Finn Harps made Shamrock Rovers think on their feet at Finn Park last night, although the SSE Premier Division front-runners and champions picked the lock.
Ollie Horgan's side sat back in the first half and almost got to the break level, only for Rory Gaffney to squeeze the only goal of the contest in first half injury time to seal a 1-0 win.
"The goal we gave away from our point of view," Horgan said. "It's disappointing in the goal we conceded. It was the manner in which we had a chance to counter and played it into trouble. Shamrock Rovers defended very well. I think anyone here realised what we were trying to do. You can talk about game plan and we still lost."
