Donegal‘s Gaeltacht areas to host Culture Night events aimed at young people

Gort an Choirce, Derrybeg, Ghaoth Dobhair and Arranmore are all hosting Culture Night events on September 18
Gaeltacht communities in Donegal are among those that will celebrate Culture Night on Friday, September 18.
Almost 40 different events are taking place in Gaeltacht areas across the country during Culture Night 2026 with the support of Ealaín na Gaeltachta, and the vast majority are suitable for intergenerational audiences – for young people and previously young people.
During this special Culture Night special efforts are being made to ensure that natural traditions and heritage are generously shared across the generations. Unusual and engaging events are planned all along the coast – fun takes on traditional and local practices, events around singing local songs, around playing tunes on instruments both old and unusual, brand new short plays and special hands-on cooking workshops using the natural foods and delicacies of the coast.
In Donegal, young musicians will take to the stage in Gort an Choirce, at An Crannóg in Derrybeg, and at Amharclann Ghaoth Dobhair. For younger children, storytelling sessions and clay art workshops will be held at Gaoth Dobhair Community Library.
Bop ar an Trá
And as part of Bop ar an Trá, a series of events bringing music, dance and bonfires to the Gaeltacht beaches, Arranmore will host music from DJ Dan and local young people on the deck.
The event will also see harbour walls transformed into a canvas for a photographic exhibition; a beach bonfire and a parade for young people. For more information, see: https://ealain.ie/oiche-chultuir-ealain-na-gaeltachta/
