Doctors treating ‘critical’ injuries after teenagers hit by car

Gardaí said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances behind the crash.
Some of the injuries sustained by teenagers who were struck by a car in Dublin on Sunday have been described as “critical”, according to gardaí.
Three boys and three girls – aged between 13 and 15 – were injured in the collision involving a car in the Dún Laoghaire area.
The driver, a woman aged in her 40s, was also taken to hospital for treatment.
Gardaí said they were continuing to investigate the circumstances behind the crash, noting all involved had “sustained varying degrees of injuries”.

The teenagers are being treated at Children’s Health Ireland Temple Street and Crumlin, where some of the injuries were later described as “critical”.
Gardaí had initially said seven teenage pedestrians had been involved in the collision.
Another teenage boy, aged 15, was taken for medical attention to Children’s Health Ireland Tallaght after witnessing the scene.
The crash happened on the Oliver Plunkett Road near Monkstown Farm at around 3pm.
The road remained closed late on Sunday night to facilitate a technical examination.
Several family liaison officers have been appointed to support the relatives of those involved in the crash.
A senior investigating officer has also been assigned and gardaí are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage.
In particular, they said: “A dark brown Nissan X-Trail travelled from the Kill Avenue direction onto Oliver Plunkett Road.
“Anyone who observed this vehicle between 2.45pm and 3.15pm is also asked to speak to investigating gardaí.”
It is understood the car mounted the curb before colliding with the youngsters, with locals saying it was believed the driver may have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.
Fine Gael councillor Dan Carson said there was a large amount of first responders at the scene of “what appears to be a serious vehicle collision”.
He said the local area was in shock, and added: “My thoughts are with the families affected and the first responders at the scene.”
Fianna Fáil councillor Justin Moylan said there was a “surreal sense of shock in the area”.
He said: “Our thoughts are with those that are injured and their families, hoping for a recovery for them as quick as possible.”
