Active Travel Project and traffic calming measures asked for Churchill

‘Over the last number of years I’ve been continuously asking about traffic calming measures for Churchill, and it's obviously not getting enough attention and has fallen on deaf ears,’ Cllr Michael McBride said
Councillor Michael McBride has requested two solutions he feels would reduce speeding in Churchill.
During the Letterkenny-Milford MD meeting, Cllr McBride stressed the importance of having traffic-calming measures placed in the village and expressed his interest in having Churchill considered for the Active Travel Project.
“Over the last number of years I’ve been continuously asking about traffic calming measures for Churchill, and it's obviously not getting enough attention and has fallen on deaf ears,” he said. “Councillor Brogan and I had a conversation about this recently, and there's no reason why an Active Travel project could be done that would slow down the traffic.
“There’s cars going through there at over 100km/h through the village, and there’s no point turning around and saying it's a Garda issue because the Garda are stretched thin like an elastic band. I’m very concerned that there’s going to be a fatality.”
“It’s not a very expensive job to do, and it would be effective; people could walk around the town… that's what we’ve aspired to. I’m asking for Churchill to be considered for an Active Travel project.”
