Central Library Letterkenny
Amnesty International Ireland Letterkenny group will hold a cultural event to celebrate Refugee Week at the Central Library, Letterkenny.
The event will take place on Thursday, June 12 from 6pm to 8pm. Through music, poetry and spoken word, the evening will showcase the contribution being made to the local community by people seeking refuge and asylum and allow attendees to explore how they can, through simple acts, support people as they rebuild their lives.
The evening will finish with a performance from the New Land Choir followed by refreshments. All are welcome.
Refugee Week celebrates the strength and resilience of those forced to flee their homes in search of safety in other countries.

Starting a new life from scratch in another country, with a different culture and language can be very difficult, away from all the familiarity of home. Yet people who come here as refugees and people seeking asylum bring with them their talents, skills and determination. They use these to contribute to the fabric of local communities and work in essential roles.
