Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter to host special events for Culture Night 2025

Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter will host an evening of heritage, theatre, and live music for Culture Night 2025

Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter is delighted to announce a vibrant programme of events for Culture Night.

This year’s Culture Night takes place on Friday, September 19, at No. 3 Church Lane and the yard behind.

Join us for an evening of heritage, theatre, and live music in the heart of Letterkenny’s historic cultural district.

From 6pm to 10pm, visitors are warmly invited to No. 3 Church Lane for a Special Open Office Day. Guests will have the opportunity to discover the vision behind the restoration of the Cathedral Quarter, explore the area’s unique history, and meet the volunteers and community members driving this transformative project. Attendees are welcome to browse at their own pace, learn more about the site’s cultural significance, and perhaps even be inspired to get involved themselves.

At 7:15pm, Elusive Theatre will present a live performance of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Dangerous People in The Yard behind No. 1 and No. 3 Church Lane. This taut psychological drama follows two strangers whose chance meeting at a railway station spirals into paranoia and suspicion. As uncertainty deepens, audiences will be drawn into a tense game of cat and mouse, culminating in a twist ending true to Hitchcock’s signature style.

It will be followed by Music in the Yard at 8pm, featuring performances from artists closely connected to the Cathedral Quarter project:

First up is Joe Dowling, performing as Jack Ray - a vocalist and musician known for his original songs and distinctive sound. A talent you need to hear.

Then is Ciarán Dunlevy, one of Ireland’s most respected street artists and has created many of our art installations. Ciaran's passion for music was reignited during lockdown and has since grown into an expressive part of his artistic life.

Our final performance for the evening is from our Chair, Sean Purser. Sean is a multi-talented singer-songwriter, DJ, producer, and actor from Ranafast, whose creativity spans music, film, and live performance.

“Culture Night is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Cathedral Quarter’s heritage while showcasing the creativity and talent rooted in our community,” said a spokesperson for the Cathedral Quarter. “We look forward to welcoming visitors to experience both the historic vision of Church Lane and the vibrant performances that reflect the spirit of the Quarter today.”
