Charlie McGettigan and Paul Harrington won the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Rock 'n' Roll Kids
Donegal’s 1994 Eurovision Song Contest winner Charlie McGettigan will return his winning trophy - once he finds it.
The move comes after Nemo, last year's Eurovision winner for Switzerland, said they are returning the 2024 trophy in protest over Israel's continued participation. Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Iceland have withdrawn from next year's contest.
“Paul Harrington and myself won the Eurovision Song Contest away back in 1994 singing Brendan Graham's great song Rock 'n' Roll Kids,” Ballyshannon native McGettigan said.

“I received an Instagram message from the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest winner as someone called Nemo was saying that, in protest against the intrusion of Israel in the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, they are returning their trophy to the European Broadcasting Union.
“They came across as very sincere and a very intelligent person and stated the case really well. I, therefore, in support of Nemo would like to return my trophy to the EBU as well. Unfortunately, our win was way back in 1994 and I can't get my hands on whatever trophy we received back then, but if I do find it, I will return as well.”
