Members of the Donegal Mountain Rescue Team took part in some high wire training techniques in Stranorlar recently.

The life saving volunteers of the DMRT held a ‘Technical Rescue’ weekend at Cladda Quarry outside Stranorlar over three days.

They were instructed in advanced climbing and rescue techniques by Industrial Safety and Rescue Techniques, (ISRT), Ireland’s top Height Safety Training firm.

They were ten participants who were put through their paces with various climbing and safety systems.

Harness and stretcher cliff face rescues and more advanced hauling and zip line casualty rescue exercises were also carried out.

PRO for DMRT. Brian Murray said: “This was an excellent course enjoyed by all”.

There will also be a fund-raising night for Donegal Mountain Rescue in Arena 7 on Friday, July 22. The tickets are €20 which includes a meal, game of bowling and Karaoke afterwards. Only 100 tickets being printed with 20 being pre-booked already. For more information contact any member of DMRT.
