Hand in Hand, a children’s cancer charity for the west, is having a public meeting this month to generate support for their work.
The group, which supports children with cancer and their families through the treatment process, is seeking support from the local community to organise events and fundraisers. Hand in Hand will hold their public meeting at 7 pm, Friday, March 30th, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Letterkenny.
A group of volunteers established Hand in Hand in 2006, identifying through personal experience key areas where practical support would be most beneficial to families of children who are undergoing treatment for cancer. The group was formerly known as CD’s Helping Hands.
Today the group offers help to families of children with cancer in the west, who have the additional pressures of travelling long distances to Dublin for primary care and treatment. The charity engages local professional service suppliers to provide support with childcare, domestic cleaning service, household laundry and family meals.
Hand in Hand is the only organisation in Ireland that supports children and their families throughout the process of cancer treatment, which for many children will extend to years.
