The Transition Year students of the Abbey Vocational School are currently performing their school play directed by Mr. Eddie Mulligan. ‘Remain Seated’ is a murder mystery.. Well, there is at least one death and we’re not certain how that person died. To say any more would probably tell you whodunit.
The main characters include flashy Colin (Niall McGroarty), gentle Lois (Shannon Welby), sensitive Peter (Seimi Campbell), articulate Carrie (Roisin Meehan), stage manager Terri (Naomi Montgomery), actress Sue (Niamh O Donnell Carey), honest policewoman Louise (Shannon Doherty) and dedicated policeman (Rory Williams).
To introduce the night there is a short ‘Health and Safety announcement’, a comedy sketch by five students - Ryan Haughey, Shane Mahon, Katelyn Hanna and Connie McGroary. Has Health and Safety gone mad?!!
The play is a great display of the talent of the Transition Year classes in the school. The students run the entire evening from backstage to light and sound to raffle, teas set design and construction etc. The student have dedicated their performance to the memory of a wonderful drama teacher, Mr. Tony Breen, who passed away recently.
Audiences have been at the edges of their seats during the week. There is only one more performance, tonight, Thursday, March 22.
Tickets are students €5 and adults €8, and can be purchased at the door.
