Described as being “at the forefront of pharmaceutical care in Ireland offering quality care at a competitive rate,” the Healthwise Pharmacy Group has been named finalists up in the prestigious Irish Pharmacy News Awards.
Edging out stiff competition to receive the accolade of joint runner-up in ‘Best Pharmacy Chain’, Group Director, James Cassidy says, “we are bucking the trend in retail pharmacy and continue to develop our core offering with quality of care and competitive rates at the top of our agenda. A dedicated and committed team, coupled with a strong sense of community is what I believe has brought us to this national stage. We are delighted with the recognition which is warranted for each and every member of our team throughout our 13 pharmacies in Donegal, Sligo and Galway.”
Healthwise Pharmacy was nominated as a finalist in the category of Business Development of the Year for Chain Pharmacies.
Delighted with the nomination Rachel Kyle, Pharmacist of Newtown, Healthwise Pharmacy, Newtowncunningham says: “we are honoured to be nominated for this accolade and to receive recognition for the great work of the Healthwise team”
The business model of Healthwise Pharmacy chains has revolved around providing quality healthcare in the local community. It has evolved to allow shared ownership whereby partner pharmacists can avail of prices, services and product range of the Healthwise model, whilst ensuring the pharmacy remains under the management of a dedicated local pharmacist.
According to the judging panel - which included representatives from HSE, Irish Patients Association, the pharmacy industry, Retail Excellence Ireland and BBC Apprentice Finalist Jim Eastwood - Healthwise Pharmacies “have developed a strong brand image with distinctive logo and shop layouts applied to all stores. In addition they have major interest in sourcing quality products at competitive prices. This is why they have been nominated as one of the final three in the Business Development of the Year for Chain Pharmacies proudly sponsored by IPN Communications Ltd.”
The award ceremony took place last weekend in Dublin’s Burlington Hotel and was attended by over 400 representatives from the pharmaceutical industry throughout Ireland.
IPN are currently the only independent magazine catering to the needs of the Irish Pharmaceutical industry and have recently launched its sister magazine, Hospital Pharmacy News (HPN). They were delighted to sponsor the Innovation in Service Development category for independent Pharmacies, to highlight the on-going excellence being carried out in Ireland’s pharmacy industry.
Managing Director Natalie Maginnis has stated that the IPN Awards are designed to highlight the ongoing excellence being carried out in Ireland’s pharmacy arena.
“Healthwise Pharmacies have demonstrated clear channels of excellence in how they are providing immediate and essential healthcare advice and treatments to their local community. They are clearly at the forefront of pharmaceutical care and as such very worthy finalists who deserve to be honoured and rewarded for their outstanding achievements and recognised as innovators.”
Acknowledging the huge importance of these awards to the pharmacy profession, Minister for Health Dr James Reilly says, “The Irish Pharmacy Awards, are an important opportunity for the pharmacy sector to recognise pharmacists and pharmacy personnel who have made a significant contribution to the improvement of patient care and pharmacy practice in Ireland. I commend those pharmacists who are dedicated to innovation and excellence in patient care.”
