The new owner of the hotel on Tory island has been at the helm of his new enterprise now for over five weeks and is enjoying the trials and challenges that accompany the new venture.

Sean Doherty worked for many years as a lighthouse keeper on the island and when the opportunity of buying the island hotel came he took the opportunity. The hotel officially opened its doors on July 5 and Sean hasn’t looked back since with coach tours from Carlow and being booked to capacity last weekend. Despite the fact that he feels that day visitors to the island has fallen by 50 per cent in the last number of years and that more needs to be done to encourage people to come to the island.

The above picture was taken by Chris Maluszynski who visited the island. The professional photographer who met the Greeencastle man when he visited the island has been to Tory three or four times during his career and hopes to return again.
