The launch of the Chords for Care CD, which was created to raise money for the Donegal Hospice and the Oncology Unit at Letterkenny General Hospital, takes place at An Grianan Theatre, Letterkenny tonight at 8pm.

Two schoolfriends from west Donegal - Robert Shields (22) from Bunbeg and Stephen McPhelimy (22) from Creeslough - came up with the idea for the project following a bereavement in the McPhelimy family.

Stephen said: “The purpose of the CD is to celebrate the great care and work put into looking after the people close to us. “We also aim to raise valuable funds and awareness for the great work provided by these services. The most important factor for us is that we know the funds raised will go straight to care in our locality.”

The album, which was recorded in a a makeshift studio at a house in Meenaleck, Crolly, features eighteen songs from The Heads of State, Daniel Doak, the Macbeth Sisters, Kate and Hannah O’Grady, Shauna McDaid, Karen Kelly, Riaghan O’Callaghan, Sean Gallagher, Nicola McGarvey, Deirdre McLaughlin, Robert Shields, Eve Murtagh, Aoife McPhelimy, Amanda Healy, Marli Kerr and more.

Many of the artists will perform at the launch.

Tickets €10 from An Grianan Box office on 074 912 0777 or www.angrianan.com.
