Daniel O’Donnell melted the heart of one of his biggest fans when he gave her a surprise birthday call on her 85th. celebrations earlier this month.
Donegal-born Ella Doogan, 85, who described the country singer as her hero, was over the moon when she heard Daniel was on the line for her.
Ella, who is cared for at Cochrane Care Home, in St. Johnstone, confessed it was her greatest wish to have a natter with the fellow Donegal-born entertainer.
And she was delighted when she heard his voice on the phone asking for her – after he took time out of his busy day preparing for a sell-out concert in Glasgow. Ella, who has followed Daniel’s career since he was a youngster, chatted away about the good old days in Donegal. A senior carer said: “It was wonderful to see Ella speaking with Daniel and the joy in her face.”
