Noeleen Scanlan set a new course record at the Benbulben 5k in Drumcliffe on Sunday.

The Finn Valley athlete was a comfortable winner of the women’s race with a time of 16.49.

Scanlan was seventh home overall, but was 22 seconds clear of Fiona Naughton, with Ava Colreavy third in 17:50.

Donore Harriers athlete John Travers was the overall winner in 14.45, over a minute ahead of Tommy Carroll, who just squeezed under the 16 minute mark, 15 seconds clear of Sligo AC’s Seamie Somers in 16.14.

Jacqueline Harvey was the winner of the W60 category, the Tírchonaill AC woman finishing in 24.50, while Oisin Gallagher of Tírchonaill was the winner of the Under-12 Boys 2km race in 6.56, with Darragh Gallagher third in 8.03.
