Anticipation building for the Streets of Ballyshannon 5k

With just over a week to go, things are hotting up nicely for the 12th Annual Streets of Ballyshannon 5k, which takes place on Saturday, April 11 at 11am starting at the Lakeside Centre in Ballyshannon.

Entries for the keenly contested race in the south of the county is capped at 500, so early registration is advised for those wanting to participate.

Entries for 17+ cost €15, with juveniles able to enter for €10, and family of four entries cost €30.

Registration for the event online can be found HERE. Entry on the day is available, but costs an extra €10 so online entry is strongly advised.

With over 30 Prizes on offer across all age categories, there should be something to suit everyone.

Winners will receive €150, down to €50 for the fifth male and female finishers, and medals will be available for all finishers.

This event, while a fundraiser for Ballyshannon Rugby Club, is also raising funds for Sligo Cancer Support Centre and SOLACE - Donegal Cancer Support Centre.

The 2025 running of the event was won by Danny Mooney from Letterkenny AC, who came home in 14:52, with clubmate Eoghain McGinley in third with 15:39. The pair were separated by second-placed Matthew McMeekin from Sligo AC in 15:37.

Angeline McShane from City of Derry Spartans led out the women's field to win in 17:31, with Brenda O’Brien of Carmen Runners second with 17:46 and Ciara Cunningham, Tir Chonaill AC, third in 18:09.
