Twin Towns BC’s Caoimhin Connolly
Two Donegal boxers will travel to the United States and Canada as part of the Bridges Beyond Boxing programme.
Twin Towns BC’s Caoimhin Connolly and Ryan Glackin of St Bridget’s in Clonmany will jet off with the team that will take in a 10-day trip to Cincinnati, Detroit and Sarnia.
Established in 2016, Bridges Beyond Boxing Ireland is a cross-community boxing exchange programme.
Connolly contested the recent Irish U19 final, losing out to Kurt Kinsella.
Connolly was the Irish Youth 48kgs champion in January when beating Kinsella. He made his debut in an international vest this year having won a gold at the William Wallace Box Cup in Scotland in 2024.
Glackin took part in a tournament against a US select in Ballyliffin earlier in the year.
Boxers from St Bridget’s Clonmany, Dunree, Carrigart, Twin Towns, Raphoe, Carndonagh, Derrveagh and Dunfanaghy were in action.
Since 2016, the Bridges Beyond Boxing programme has helped transform lives on both sides of the Atlantic by linking cities and building friendships.
Bridges Beyond Boxing organises, recruits, trains and delivers events on both sides of the Atlantic, allowing young people to travel, compete and experience cultural exchange.
