‘Razor Ali’, Alireza Ghadiri with his team, including Ciaran Duffy, second from right
Donegal boxing trainer Ciaran Duffy believes that ‘Razor Ali’, Alireza Ghadiri, is destined for a shot at a Commonwealth title.
Ghadiri defeated Kaddour Hmiani, a former French champion, on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old Ghadiri earned a win when Hmiani was retired by his corner at the end of the third round at York Hall, Bethnal Green.
Ghadiri is now 12-0 (3KOs) and Duffy, a native of Mullaghduff who is making waves as a trainer, says he can make real inroads.
“The win puts him in line for a another title fight in December or January,” Duffy told Donegal Live.
“It puts ‘Razor’ inside the top five super bantamweights in the UK and confirms his status as one of the most exciting prospects in European boxing.
“He is a real prospect. I think he will get a shot at the Commonwealth title next.”
Ghadiri, a Lond-based Iranian, scored knockdowns in all three rounds before the halt was called.
Duffy boxed as a pro himself and banked a 10-2-1 record between 2001 and 2010. In December, he was in the corner when Daniel Dubois stopped Jarrell Miller in Saudi Arabia.

In 2024, Ghadiri won the IBO Continental super-bantamweight title when he stopped Lennox Lythgoe in the third round at the York Hall.
