David Weir pledges to donate another 25k fight purse to Crumlin Children's Hospital

David Weir again promises to donate his second 25k fight purse to charity

David Weir has his hand raised after his impressive win last Wednesday in Dubai.

David Weir plans to return to the squared circle in April and the Donegal man will again be giving his entire fight purse to charity.

He stepped into a professional boxing ring for the fight time back in December and not only had his hand raised but also immediately donated his €25,000 winners purse to Crumlin Children’s Hospital.

David Weir, now residing in Dubai, was part of the FightGecko Combat Series main event card.

And he backed up his pre-fight promise, as an early flurry completely overwhelmed his opponent, Azmodin Mohammdi, and an impressive first-round stoppage was secured.

Weir did, unfortunately, pick up a minor hand injury in the bout but he is now back in full training.

Weir’s Instagram profile @thediamondweir describes himself as a ‘Boxer and Multi Business Owner/Property Investor'.

Taking to Instagram this week, he explained: “When the pay-per-view comes out, be a part of it, buy it.

“It’s not to support me, it’s to support children that the fight purse will go towards helping. So everyone can be a part of handing over that cheque.

“It helps families and kids going things most of us can even imagine. Hats off to everyone on the front line. It’s the hardest job in the world.

“On April 14 I’m back in action. I don’t know who the opponent is just yet but what I do know is that the purse will go towards the people in Temple Street and Crumlin Hospital.

“So thank you so much for all the support up until the point”.
