Jay Jay Wilson stunned Darragh Kally with a vicious first round stoppage at PFL Belfast.

‘Moville Mauler’ Kelly suffered a first defeat, the bout waved off after just 37 seconds of the first round.

The lightweight clash, the headline act at PFL Belfast in the SSE Arena, was scheduled for three five-minute rounds, but Kelly and his huge tribe of supporters were shocked in the opening stanza.

Kelly carried an unblemished through nine amateur and nine professional bouts and came here as eighth in the PFL’s lightweight rankings.

However, around 30 seconds in Wilson landed a left kick followed by a left hook to the chin that put Kelly to the canvas.

Just to be sure, Wilson followed up with two punches as the referee, John McCarthy, was stepping in to wave it off.

Soon, Wilson was atop the octagon as Kelly lay strewn on the floor.

Given the late hour - it was well into the early hours of Friday, due to broadcast agreements when the pair stepped onto their stage - and the 5,000 crowd were already bleary eyed.

Kelly had stepped in to take on ‘The Māori Kid’ Wilson at late notice after Paul Hughes, the original headliner, had to withdraw due to an injury.

Wilson lost to Archie Colgan last year, but has now called for a clash with Alfie Davis as he eyes up a shot at Usman Nurmagomedov’s PFL lightweight strap.
