Tinney’s Bar will open its main bar again on Sunday, just in time for Mother’s Day and they have thanked anyone who helped out in any way
An east Donegal pub is set to reopen its main bar two years after a serious fire.
Customers and staff were evacuated from Tinney’s Bar in Castlefin, owned by Kieran Brennan, with crews having to battle the flames to prevent the spread to other adjoining buildings, back in March 2024.
But after a fundraising drive and plenty of graft, Tinney’s Bar will open its main bar again on Sunday, just in time for Mother’s Day and they have thanked anyone who helped out in any way.
“So some good news for a change, we’re back!”, they posted. “Sunday, will see our much-anticipated return to the main bar and just in time for the two-year anniversary of the fire that destroyed everything.

“We'll still have some minor touch-ups in the coming weeks but Mother's Day 2026 seems like the perfect opportunity to showcase all the hard work to date. The community effort in this rebuild has been nothing short of remarkable and the help we've received has been unbelievable, not only in the past few months but the support in every event since the fire has been brilliant.
“In due course, we'll get around to individual thanks but for now it's a massive thanks to everyone who's helped in any way. We kick off the return to the new bar with all the live sports on any of our eight HD screens and kick off the live music with Eugene Logue from 7pm followed with some Karaoke with some of Castlefin's finest!
“Monday and St Patrick's eve we've got Paul Brennan on the tunes and Tuesday it's our Patrick's day dart competition with over 40 players signed up! Be sure to give us a shout from Sunday and get a look at our new surroundings!”.
