A drunk Letterkenny man who was unable to tell a taxi driver where he lived was dropped off at a Garda station.
On November 5, 2021, the taxi driver presented to the front office at Letterkenny Garda Station.
The driver informed Gardai that a customer was 'unaware' where his address was.
Garda Adrian McBride investigated and detected a strong smell of alcohol from the front seat passenger.
Patrick Molloy, a 21-year-old of The Curragh, Lismonaghan, Letterkenny, had to be helped from the car and was unable to stand unaided, Sergeant Gerard Dalton told Letterkenny District Court.
He was arrested for an offence under Section 24 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994.
Molloy was cautioned and conveyed to Letterkenny Garda Station.
A fixed charge penalty notice (FCPN) was issued, but was not paid.
The court heard that Molloy has no previous convictions.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said that she found the facts proven. Molloy was convicted and fined €150. He was allowed five months to pay.
