Donegal Gardai seized a car from a motorist who was found driving with no licence, insurance or NCT after turning away from a checkpoint.

Gardaí from Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit were conducting multi agency checkpoints on Friday.

The checkpoints were held at several locations and included the Gardai, Revenue and Customs, and the Road Safety Authority (RSA).

One driver, who was spotted turning back from one such checkpoint, was intercepted.

It was established that the driver had no driving licence, no insurance and the car had not been tested.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The car was seized and this driver will now have to face the consequences of their actions.

“Ensure that your relevant documentation is up to date and that your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before taking to the roads.”
