Clonmany man is Donegal's newest solicitor

Donegal's newest practising solicitor, Mr Paul Devlin from Clonmany, has been formally introduced.

Paul Devlin was introduced to Thursday's sitting of Buncrana District Court at Buncrana courthouse.

Mr Devlin was formally introduced to the court by solicitor Mr Ciaran Mac Lochlainn of CS Kelly & Co Solicitors, where he is now working.

Mr Devlin, a native of Straid, Clonmany, attended St Mary's National School in Clonmany and Carndonagh Community School.

The 30-year-old studied first at Letterkenny Institute of Technology and later at Blackhall Place in Dublin.

“He has been with our practice for a few months now and it is a privilege and delight to introduce him to the court,” Mr Mac Lochlainn said.

“He comes from a well-known family in Clonmany, the Devlin Memorials family.”

Mr Devlin's mother, Mairead Devlin, and his fiancée, Danielle Doherty, were present in court. His father, Jimmy, passed away in 2011.

Mr Devlin and Ms Doherty are due to wed on July 19.

Sergeant Sean McDaid, on behalf of An Garda Síochána, welcomed Mr Devlin to court and joked, having seen him play football at their local Urris GAA Club, that he hoped he has better accuracy in court!

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham extended a warm welcome to Mr Devlin and congratulated him on his appointment as a solicitor.

Judge Cunningham passed on congratulations to Mr Devlin and Ms Doherty on their impending nuptials.

“I wish you every success in your career and marriage,” Judge Cunningham said.

Mr Devlin said it was a “privilege” to have been introduced to court and thanked those who had wished him well in court.

Mr Devlin thanked his colleagues under whom he trained at PA Dorrian & Co Solicitors and those with whom he is now working at CS Kelly & Co Solicitors.
