Father and son plead guilty to theft of tools in Glenties

The accused men, who appeared before Donegal Circuit Court, are charged that they did steal a yellow power washer and an orange Stihl chainsaw from property in Glenties

The men appeared at Donegal Circuit Court

A father and son have appeared in court charged with the theft of tools during a robbery in Glenties.

William, 48, and Hugh McGinley, 26, both pleaded guilty at Donegal Circuit Court to the thefts at Meenachallow, Glenties on March 3t, 2022.

The accused, both of Alma Terrace, Finisklin, Co. Sligo, are charged that they did steal a yellow power washer and an orange Stihl chainsaw being the property of Aidan Boyle.

Barristers for both men asked for a probation report in each case.

Judge John Aylmer agreed and also asked for the reports to include the suitability of community service.

He then adjourned the cases for sentencing to the next sessions of the circuit court in April 2025.
