A woman kicked the door of Letterkenny Garda Station and called officers ‘stupid pricks’ and ‘spastics’ after her partner was arrested.

Eimear Ferry appeared at Letterkenny District Court.

Ms Ferry, of Ballina, Falcarragh, was charged with an offence under the Public Order Act, 1994 at Newline Road in Letterkenny.

Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that on August 7, 2023, Ms Ferry arrived at the Garda station seeking keys from her partner who had been arrested earlier.

However, while at the station Ms Ferry got "extremely aggressive."

She kicked the door of the Garda station and then called Gardai "stupid pricks, spastics, and other names."

She was arrested and taken inside the station where she apologised to Gardai.

The accused woman's solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said his client had no previous convictions but on the night had a lot of alcohol taken.

Judge Eiteain Cunningham said this type of language and behaviour was simply not acceptable.

However, she said she also noted the manner of the apology and how Ms Ferry had met the charge.

She told Mr Gallagher that if his client made a €200 donation to the Donegal Hospice within five months then she would strike the matter out.

The case was adjourned to June 9, 2025.
