Kerrykeel man faces trial over separate assaults on two men

The 22-year-old appeared at Letterkenny District Court to face the two charges and the Director of Public Prosecutions has consented for the accused to go forward for trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court

A young Kerrykeel man is to stand trial for allegedly assaulting two men on two separate occasions.

Kane McLaughlin, 22, appeared at Letterkenny District Court to face the two charges.

Detective Garda Stephen Moyles gave evidence of arresting the accused man.

McLaughlin, of Knockalla Close, Kerrykeel, made no reply when charged.

He is charged that on June 5th, 2022, at High Road, Letterkenny, he assaulted Gary McConigley, causing him harm.

He was also charged that on February 20, 2022 at Lower Main Street in Letterkenny, he assaulted Jordan McNulty, causing him harm.

Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented for the accused to go forward for trial at the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.

The accused man's solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, said Gardai had no objection to bail with a number of conditions including that he sign on once a week at Milford Garda Station.

Mr Gallagher asked for the case to be adjourned to May 12, 2025 for the service of two books of evidence.

Legal aid was also granted.
