A man who punched a woman during an incident in Ballybofey has appeared in court.
Gabriel Maxim was before Letterkenny District Court in connection with the incident on September 23, 2024.
Maxim, of College Court, Ballybofey, was charged with an assault and the 36-year-old also faced a criminal damage charge.
Inspector Seamus McGonigle told the court that just after midnight gardai were called to an incident at The Park, Blue Cedars, Ballybofey.
The defendant was said to have arrived at the location and became involved in an argument with a woman. Inspector McGonigle said that Maxim grabbed the woman by the hair and punched her to the side of the head.
Maxim was ushered out of the premises due to what the court heard was his “extremely threatening and aggressive behaviour”.
Maxim smashed the outer pane of glass in a kitchen window and also damaged a kitchen table and chairs. Approximately €500 worth of damage was caused in the incident.
Maxim has no previous convictions and his solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher, told the court that this incident occurred around seven months ago and there has been no further interaction with the gardai.
On each of the two charges, Judge Ciaran Liddy fined Maxim €200.
