Gardaí have told people to be igilant and advised business owners to tell staff accordingly

Gardaí in Buncrana have told people to keep their wits about them with dud notes understood to be circulating.

“It has been brought to our attention that several counterfeit £20 Bank of England notes were in circulation in the Buncrana area recently,” a garda spokesperson said.

“We urge all businesses across Donegal to be aware that these fake/prop notes may be in use and to advise staff to always thoroughly check all notes received, as many of these notes are produced in a very professional manner. Please be vigilant and advise your staff accordingly.”
