Suspected drink driver stopped by stinger device arrested on a litany of offences

A stinger device was successfully deployed and the van was brought to a halt

A stinger device was required to bring a van that was being driven dangerously to a halt - then the driver was arrested for suspected drink driving and having no driving licence or insurance.

Buncrana Roads Policing Unit were operating a checkpoint in the Bridgend area in the early hours of Sunday morning, when a van approached and then failed to stop. It was driven in a dangerous manner for a distance.

A stinger device was successfully deployed and the van was brought to a halt. The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. It was also established that the driver had no driving licence or insurance. They were charged with a number of offences. The van was seized. The passenger was arrested on foot of a bench warrant.
