Gardaí are asking people to always report any suspicious activity to their nearest Garda station

Gardaí are advising people to review the security measures around their homes after a group of men were caught on camera checking door handles of houses and vehicles at night in the Donegal Town and Glenties region.

In light of these recent incidents, Gardaí have given some tips on how to keep your home safer as we are approaching longer nights.

“Turn on some lights and consider using timer switches,” they said. “Lock all doors and windows and make sure an alarm is set. Store keys away from windows and avoid keeping large amounts of cash or jewellery in the house. Ensure that your garage is locked and its windows secured. Always keep your vehicle locked and never leave valuables unattended inside.”

Gardaí are asking people to always report any suspicious activity to their nearest Garda station or alternatively, they can contact the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
