There could be as many as 60 possible new victims in these offences case involving a Catholic priest Derry Magistrate's Court was told today.
Edward Gallagher (58) of Orchard Park in Lifford had been charged with one count of attempted sexual communication with a child on dates between April 2 and April 17 2025 and 7 further offences including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and causing a child to watch sexual activity on April 17 this year.
At today's hearing a prosecutor told the court that the triage of the devices in the case had been completed.
She added that '60-plus possible victims' had been identified and this would need to be further investigated before any more progress could be made in the case.
The prosecution applied for the case to be adjourned for another four weeks.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that there was no objection to that course of action and the case was adjourned until October 9. Gallagher has been in custody since his arrest in April and there has been no application for bail.
