A man has pleaded guilty to drug-dealing in Letterkenny.

Gianni Lemenipop tendered guilty pleas in respect of two charges when he appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

The 23-year-old, of Whitechapel Court, Clonsilla in Dublin admitted to having cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying it and also pleaded guilty to being in possession of property that was the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Lemenipop spoke only to plead guilty when he was arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.

The charges relate to May 8, 2023 at Rosemount Terrace, Letterkenny.

He was charged that he did unlawfully have in his possession a controlled drug, namely cannabis, for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying to others.

He also pleaded guilty to engaging in the possession of property that was the proceeds of criminal conduct, namely €855 in cash, while knowing that or believing that or being reckless as to whether the property was the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Other charges were marked as taken into consideration and the pleas were acceptable on a full facts basis, the court was informed.

Barrister for Lemenipop, Mr Simon Gillespie BL, instructed by solicitor Mr Rory O'Brien, said his client is a ground worker who lives in Dublin. Lemenipop has one previous relevant conviction, one of possession of a controlled drug from 2020.

Mr Gillespie sought the preparation of a probation and welfare report on his client.

Judge Aylmer asked that the report include an assessment on Lemenipop’s suitability for community service.

Lemenipop was remanded on continuing bail and the case was adjourned to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
