The case was heard at Buncrana District Court.
A Bridgend man is accused of having a quantity of drugs for sale or supply last year.
The case of Ivan Peoples, of Carrowreagh, Bridgend, came before Buncrana District Court.
The 46-year-old defendant is charged with possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying the substance contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Mr Peoples is also charged with possession of cannabis contrary to Section 3 of the same Act.
The charges follow a search of his property at Carrowreagh, Bridgend, on September 19 last year.
The court heard how DPP directions in the matter are still outstanding, and Sergeant Conor Mulkerns applied for a “lengthy adjournment” to facilitate a full Garda investigation.
Defence solicitor Rory O’Brien opposed the State application for more time.
“I would be concerned about a lengthy adjournment in a situation where we are already a long way down the road,” he said.

Judge Emile Daly adjourned the case against Mr Peoples until February 12 and said she’d expect to see some progress by then.
Separately, Mr Peoples is also charged with dangerous driving contrary to Section 53 of the Road Traffic Act following an alleged incident at Bonemaine, Bridgend, on July 27, 2025.
That case was adjourned until December 11 next, to allow his solicitor to liaise with the Gardai, who have ordered that Mr Peoples be present in court next month.
