Ballyshannon man admits serious assaults on two men in Bundoran

The 26-year-old accused is charged with two counts of assault causing harm, contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997

A Ballyshannon man has admitted seriously assaulting two men.

Dylan Gallagher tendered guilty pleas when he was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer at Donegal Circuit Court.

The 26-year-old, of Ernedale Heights, Ballyshannon spoke only to plead guilty in respect of the incidents on Main Street, Bundoran on May 8, 2022.

He is charged with two counts of assault causing harm, contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Mr Peter Nolan BL, barrister for Gallagher, asked that a full probation report be prepared. 

Mr Nolan said that Gallagher has “some previous convictions”.

Judge Aylmer sought the preparation of a probation report to include an assessment for community service.

The case was adjourned to the sitting of Donegal Circuit Court in June, 2026.
