The motorist was fined for failing to pay and display for parking in Buncrana.
A motorist who failed to pay and display for parking in Buncrana last summer has been fined €150 and ordered to pay additional costs of €138 to Donegal County Council.
Gerard Lynch, of Carry, Carnamoyle, Muff, was not present in court when his case was called at Buncrana District Court.
However, Judge Emile Daly found him guilty of the misdemeanour in his absence.
The prosecution was brought by Donegal County Council, represented by solicitor Donna Ferry.
A traffic warden gave evidence of having been on patrol at Maginn Avenue, Buncrana, on Monday, August 25, 2025, when the offence was detected.
At 9.21am that morning, the warden observed a 162-DL vehicle – registered to Mr Lynch – with no valid pay and display parking ticket.
The traffic warden issued a fixed charge penalty notice at 10.03am in respect of the offence, but the fine was not paid, and the matter progressed to court as a consequence.
The judge heard how the last opportunity to pay before going to court would have been in the sum of €80.
Judge Daly convicted Mr Lynch of the parking offence and fined him €150. She also ordered him to pay €138 in legal costs to Donegal County Council.
He has been given four months to pay the €288 total.
