A car driving in a “dangerous manner” was seized after evading a garda checkpoint.

Buncrana Roads Policing Unit and Milford Roads Policing Unit conducted crime prevention checkpoints in the Lifford area on Sunday night.

The driver of the car had failed to stop and a stinger was deployed at Porthall. The vehicle was later found abandoned and subsequently seized. Gadaí described the incident as driving in a “dangerous manner” and said “investigations are ongoing.”

In a separate incident, another car was seized as the NCT had expired, and the insurance policy was discovered to be inactive. A fixed charge penalty notice was issued and court proceedings will follow.

Other vehicles were seized as a learner driver was unaccompanied or the vehicle was uninsured.
