Woman must pay more than €500 for parking without tax or parking ticket in Donegal

The woman was parked at Bundoran's Atlantic Way

A woman whose vehicle was parked in Bundoran without valid tax or a pay and display ticket is facing more than €500 in fines and prosecution costs.

Amanda Forde, of Gormanstown, Drumcree, Mullingar, County Westmeath was not present when the matter came before Ballyshannon District Court on Friday, April 17. Nor was she represented by a solicitor in her absence.

Traffic Warden Eddie Duffy told the court that on August 2, 2025 he observed the vehicle parked at Atlantic Way, Bundoran. There was no pay and display ticket on the vehicle, nor had an electronic payment been made.

Having observed the vehicle at 10.51am, Mr Duffy wrote a Fixed Charge Notice (FCN) at 11.15am, placing it on the windscreen and taking photos.

“It has not been paid,” he said.

Mr Duffy gave evidence that he further observed that the vehicle was not displaying valid road tax. He wrote a notice at 10.56am and placed it on the windscreen. It has not been paid.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said that she found the facts proven.

Solicitor Donna Ferry representing Donegal County Council told the court that prosecution costs were €138 on each of the offences.

Judge Cunningham imposed a fine of €200 for the offence of not displaying a valid tax disc, and €80 for parking without a valid parking ticket. She made an order of €138 costs on each offence, bringing the total to be paid by Forde to €556. She has been granted five months in which to make the payments.
