All charges dropped against Quigley’s Point woman arrested in the UK last year

The woman is now regarded by investigators as an innocent victim who was exploited
All charges against an Inishowen woman arrested in the UK last year on suspicion of drug smuggling have been dramatically dropped, with authorities confirming she has been fully cleared of any wrongdoing.
The Quigley’s Point woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was detained at Heathrow Airport in London on November 7, 2025, after initially coming under suspicion in connection with an alleged drugs operation.
However, the Crown Prosecution Service in England has now confirmed that it has entered a “nolle prosequi” in the case, formally bringing proceedings to an end without any charges being pursued.
It is understood that investigators quickly established there was no evidence linking the woman to Class A narcotics or any criminal activity.
Sources close to the case said police acted swiftly once it became clear she had been unwittingly caught up in what has been described as a highly sophisticated and professional drug-smuggling operation.
The woman is understood to have been travelling on a business trip at the time and is now regarded by investigators as an innocent victim who was exploited by those behind the operation. An ongoing police investigation means few additional details can be disclosed at this time.
The ordeal has been deeply traumatic for the local woman, who is now expected to pursue legal action against the company involved.
In a statement issued following the conclusion of the case, the woman expressed her gratitude to the police, the courts, her family, friends and the local and wider Inishowen community for the support she received throughout the investigation.
She has also thanked her legal representatives in the UK and Ireland, including barrister Salma Lalani, Sheraz Chowdry, of Middlesex Law Chambers, and Ciaran MacLochlainn, of CS Kelly & Co in Buncrana, praising their professionalism and dedication in helping secure a just outcome.
