There is deep sadness in Letterkenny following the death of Girlie Gallagher.
Late of Muckish Avenue, Ms Gallagher (née Drein) passed away on Saturday last, August 19.
One of her sons, Troy, is a Labour councillor in the London borough of Islington. In 2021, he became the first Irish-born mayor of Islington.
Girlie was predeceased by her husband, Hughie.
She is survived by her sons Troy (London) and Hugh (Dublin), daughters Antoinette (Belgium) and Kerry (Letterkenny), sons-in-law Madhu and Kevin, daughter-in-law Daisy, grandchildren Holly, Hugh and Conor, sister Josephine Parke (Letterkenny), brother Joseph (Dublin) and all her extended family, neighbours and friends.
Her funeral takes place on Thursday, August 24, in St. Eunan’s Cathedral at 2pm with burial afterwards in Conwal cemetery.
