Mary Rosaleen Canning, Buncrana

The death has occurred at the Donegal Hospice of Mary Rosaleen Canning, Old Road, Ballymacarry Lower, Buncrana.

Predeceased by her loving husband Jim. Deeply regretted and will be sadly missed by her loving sons and daughter Peter, Seamus and Anna Clare Allalouf nee Canning, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, brothers, extended family and friends.
May her gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Reposing at her home from 11.00am Sunday, January 12 where you are all welcome to pay your respects. Removal from there on Tuesday, January 14 at 10.15am to St. Mary’s Church, Cockhill for Requiem Mass at 11.00am followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard. Requiem Mass can be viewed on www.churchservices.tv/cockhill.

Family time please from 11pm to 11am and on the morning of the funeral – family and close friends only. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu, if desired, to The Donegal Hospice c/o any family member.

Clare Breslin, Buncrana

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Clare Breslin, 7 St Oran’s Drive, Buncrana.

Her remains will be reposing at her home on Sunday, January 12 from 10.30am to 5pm followed by removal to St Mary’s Oratory, Buncrana to repose overnight.


Requiem Mass on Monday morning, January 13 at 10.00am followed by interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cockhill.

PJ Rooney, Laghey

The death has taken place of PJ Rooney, Tullywee, Laghey. He passed away in the wonderful care of the staff of Donegal Community Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

PJ is predeceased by his parents, Felix and Nellie, his nephew Bobby and his son-in-law, Mark. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Patricia, a devoted father to Padraig (Lindsay), Elaine (Brian), Marie, Sean (Laura), Conall (Lauren) and Patrice (Pauric) and a cherished Granda to Adam, Sadhbh, Sophia, Se, Daimhin, Roise, Cora, Matthew and Felix. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Bernie (and her husband Eddie), Eileen and Noleen, his brother-in-law Seamus, sisters-in-law Sophia and Margaret, as well as his many nephews, nieces, extended family and members of his Laghey Waste family.

PJ's remains are reposing at his family home. Traffic management will be operational. Walking access only via Lane, except for wheelchair accessible users please. Family home private on the morning of the funeral please..

Removal takes place on Monday at 10.15am going to St Brigid's Church, Ballintra for 11am Funeral Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard. Funeral Mass will be streamed live on www.churchservices.tv/ballintra

Maree Donnelly, Castlefin

The sudden death has occurred at her late residence of Maree Donnelly, Drumdoit, Castlefin.

Beloved wife of the late Sean Donnelly, much loved sister of Anna, and Rita, and sister-in-law of Sam. She is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sisters, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, and wider family circle.

Her remains are reposing at her late residence on Saturday from 6pm until 10pm and on Sunday from 12 noon until 10 pm. Family time from 10pm until 12 noon, and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral leaving from there on Monday at 10.30am for Requiem Mass in St Columba’s Church, Donnyloop at 11am. Interment takes place afterwards in the adjoining Churchyard. The Requiem will be streamed live here

John Donovan, Gweedore and Dublin

Fuair John Donovan as Mín a Cuing, Gaoth Dobhair ach gurb as Baile Átha Cliath ó dhúchas, bás i mBaile Átha Cliath. 

Dhéanfar a fhaire i dTeach Tórraimh Uí Rabhartaigh sná Doirí Beaga (F92 DN4X) Dé Domhnaigh, ón 2 a chlog go ham Paidrín ag a 8 a chlog.

Cuirfear é sa reilig áitiúil Dé Luain, i ndiaidh Aifreann 11 a chlog i dTeach Pobail Cholmcille, Cnoc Fola.

John Donovan of Meenacuing, Gweedore, and formerly of Cabra in Dublin died peacefully at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin after a short illness.

Predeceased by his wife Sadie and son Mark and sister Maureen, he is sadly missed by his sons, Bryan and Sean, his daughters-in-law, Karen Murphy and Karen Henwood his grandchildren, Malachy, Dearbhla and Ruadhan, his brother Paddy, sister-in-law Ann, his relatives, friends and old colleagues from the ESB in Gweedore.

His remains will repose at Roarty's Funeral Home Derrybeg, F92 DN4X between 2pm and 8pm on Sunday, with the Rosary at 8pm.

Funeral Mass will be held in Teach Pobail Cholmcille Cnoc Fola on Monday at 11am followed by internment in the adjoining cemetery. The Funeral Mass will be streamed on Kieran Roarty Funeral Director's Facebook page. https://shorturl.at/JOfpm

Joseph Houston, Cloghan

The death has occurred peacefully at his home in Birmingham, England, in his 100th year, of Joseph Houston, formerly of Lettershanbo, Cloghan.

Beloved husband of the late Mary, much loved father to Angela, (James) Caroline, (Craig) and John (Helen). Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his son, daughter, grandchildren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephews, nieces in Ireland and England, (Mc Cool family, Hone family, Houston family) extended family and friends.

Joe’s Requiem Mass will take place on Monday at 11am in the Church of St Joseph and St Helen, Kings Norton, with interment in St. Nicholas Churchyard, Kings Norton.The Requiem Mass will be streamed live via the Parish Webcam at https://www.youtube.com/@ssjosephandhelen

Celine Mearns, Ardara

The death has taken place at her residence of Celine Mearns (The Saddler) Rose Cottage, Wood Road, Drumbarron, Ardara.

Deeply regretted by her son Jason and sadly missed by her nieces, nephews and all her relatives, neighbours and friends.

Her remains will be reposing at St Shanaghan House on Saturday from 2pm to 6pm followed by removal to The Church of The Holy Family, Ardara arriving at 7pm. Those attending the wake are reminded to adhere to the use of facemasks. 

Funeral Mass on Sunday morning at 11am with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
