Death notices and funeral arrangements for Donegal on Monday evening, December 8

The following deaths have taken place:

Padraig Gallagher, Cloghan

The death has taken place in Eltham, London, of Padraig Gallagher (Big Pat), formerly from Ardlaghan, Cloghan, Co. Donegal. Pre-deceased by his parents Annie and Edward Gallagher and his brother-in-law Liam Kelly.

Sadly missed by his brothers, Fr Eddie and John (Mary) and his sister Annie (John). Deeply regretted by his nieces, nephews, the wider family circle, neighbours and friends.

Padraig's Remains will repose at the home of his sister, Annie Kelly in Ardlaghan (F93 YP46) from 12 noon on Thursday, December 11.

Requiem Mass will be at 12 noon on Friday in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Glenfin (F93 FH98), with burial afterwards in Kilteevogue Cemetery in the family plot.

John Boyce, Termon

The death has occurred of John Boyce, Drumfin, Termon, Donegal, F92 TD70.

He passed peacefully in the hands of the caring staff in the Donegal Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. 

Predeceased by his parents Johnny and Mary and brother James. Survived by his wife Bridget, son Declan (Jeanine). Deeply regretted by brothers Brian, Joe, Tony, Willie & sister Mary. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family members, neighbours & friends.

John's remains will be reposing at his late residence on Tuesday, December 9 from 3pm until 10pm and on Wednesday from 10am until 10pm. 

Funeral from there on Thursday morning going to St Columba’s Church Termon for requiem mass at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Charlie Doherty, Greencastle

The peaceful death has taken place at his home of Charlie Doherty, Carrowhugh, Greencastle F93 HC59.

Predeceased by his wife Sarah and much loved father of Jayne, Ellen, William and Gwyneth.

Devoted grandfather to all his grandchildren.

Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his daughter-in-law Kelly and sons-in-law Sean and Alan, his sisters, nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Charlie’s remains will repose at his home from 5pm on Tuesday, December 9 where all are welcome to pay respects.

Funeral from there on Thursday at 10.30am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Mary’s Church, Ballybrack, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery. Family time from 10pm to 11am.

Philip McLaughlin, Buncrana

The death has taken place at Beech Hill Manor of Philip McLaughlin (Philips) Dunree, Linsfort, Buncrana, F93RX89.

Predeceased by his parents, John & Kathleen, brother Johnny, and sisters Mary Ellen, Kathleen, Cissie, and Brigid.

Lovingly remembered by his wife Kathleen, sons Philip (Catherine), Paul (Nicola), Daughters Kathleen, Mary (Derek), Claire (Marty), Sadie (Nicholas), Grace (Jamie), his sisters Mena and Patsy, his grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law; wider Family circle and friends.

Philip’s remains will be reposing at his late residence from 8 pm this evening, Monday 8th December, where all are welcome to pay their respects.

Leaving there at 10.30 am on Wednesday, going to Star of the Sea Church, Desertegney for 11 am Requiem Mass with burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Tina Duffy, Newtowncunningham

The death has occurred at the Donegal Hospice of Tina Duffy (née McGee), Cottage Farm, Newtowncunningham, Co. Donegal, F93 Y0Y9.

Tina will be lovingly missed by her husband William, daughters Emma (Shaun) and Tara (Lee), grandchildren Gracie and Olivia, sisters Dolores McNulty, Carmel McDaid, Veronica Burns, Teresa Carlin, brothers Tommy McGee and Liam McGee, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and all her extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents William and Gracie, and brothers John and Barney, brothers-in-law Oliver McDaid, Seamus McNulty and Jim McDevitt. May they all rest in peace.

Removal from Kelly’s Funeral Home, Oakfield, Raphoe, F93 KP0N, on Tuesday, December 9 at 2pm, going to her late residence to repose for wake until 10pm.

Wake on Tuesday from 3:00pm to 10.00pm and Wednesday from 10:00am to 10:00pm.

Family time on the morning of the funeral, please. Cortege leaving her late residence on Thursday, at 10:30am in the morning going to All Saints Church, Newtowncunningham, for 11:00am Requiem Mass, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

Annie Marie McKinley, Dunfanaghy

The death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Annie Marie (Nan) McKinley (nee Dunleavy), Kill Brea, Dunfanaghy, Co. Donegal, F92 X0C7.

Sadly missed and much loved by her sons Fred (Kathleen) and James (Mary), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Martha, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Reposing at her home from on Monday, December 8 at 4.00pm.

Funeral Service in Holy Trinity Church, Hornhead Road, Dunfanaghy, on Wednesday at 1.00pm. Burial afterwards in Clondahorkey Cemetery.

Family time, please, from 10.00 p.m. to 10.00 a.m. and on the morning of the funeral.

The death has taken place in Letterkenny University Hospital of Charlie Callaghan, Ballyare, Ramelton.

Reposing at the residence of his son Johnny and Tara Callaghan, Gortnavern, Coolboy, Letterkenny, F92 HYD7, from 6pm on Monday, December 8.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday at 11 am in St Peter’s Church, Milford. Burial afterwards in Tully Cemetery.

Tara Scanlon,  Killygordon

The death has occurred of Tara Scanlon, formerly Drumavish, Crossroads, Killygordon. F93 RF78.

Predeceased by her mother Nora.

Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Chloe, father Eddie, brother Edward, sisters Elaine and Edel, extended family and friends.

Reposing at the home of her father Eddie Scanlon at Drumavish, Crossroads, Killygordon on Monday, December 8 from 6pm to 9pm and on Tuesday from 12noon to 9pm.

Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday at 10.20 am for 11am Requiem Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Crossroads, Killygordon.

Interment in the adjoining churchyard.

Maria McMenamin, Rossnowlagh

The sudden death has occurred of Maria Frances Josephine McMenamin, Corker, Rossnowlagh, at her residence.

Beloved daughter of the late Mary & Dan McMenamin, Corker, Rossnowlagh.

Jo lived for many years in America. She made her home in Braintree, Boston, with her precious son Danny, who sadly predeceased her just a little over one year ago. Beloved sister to Anna/June, Donal, Nuala, Pauline & their partners. Doting grandmother / Baba to her darlings Shelby and Bailey.

Aunty Josie to Timothy, Siobhan & Hannah. Aunty Jo to her many much-loved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Godmother to Jo-Ann and Stuart. Her much-loved cousins, lifelong friends and neighbours.

Jo will be sadly missed by so many on both sides of the Atlantic.

 Reposing on Saturday, December 13 at 1.30pm to 3.30pm at John McGee & Sons Funeral home, Belleek Rd, Ballyshannon, F94ED21 where everyone is welcome to say their goodbyes. Followed by private cremation. 

Please join her family for soup and sandwiches in Dorrian's Hotel, Main Street, Ballyshannon at 3.45pm.
