Buncrana First Responders seek new recruits to help save lives

Residents are invited to discover how they can help save lives by joining Buncrana Community First Responders at an open information evening.
Buncrana Community First Responders are inviting residents to an open information and recruitment evening later this week, offering an opportunity to learn how ordinary people are making an extraordinary difference in medical emergencies across the community.
The informal event will take place this Thursday, 23rd July, at 8.00pm in Cashel Na Cor, and is open to everyone with no obligation to sign up.
The evening will give attendees insight into the vital work carried out by Community First Responders, trained volunteers who respond to emergency medical calls in their local area while an ambulance is on its way.
Attendees will hear how responders help save lives, what happens when an emergency call comes in, and the comprehensive training and ongoing support provided to every volunteer.
Organisers also hope to highlight the personal rewards of volunteering, including the friendships, teamwork and strong sense of purpose that come from serving the local community.
No previous medical experience is required, as full training is provided for all new recruits. Buncrana Community First Responders say that "just a few hours each month can make a life-changing difference."
The emergency volunteer group is particularly keen to welcome potential volunteers from Fahan, Inch, Desertegney Parish and Dunree, although anyone interested in supporting the service is encouraged to attend.
The event will also explain how the organisation raises funds to keep the service running, the community awareness campaigns it supports, and the many ways people can become involved by either becoming a responder or taking up a committee role.
Whether you're simply curious about the service or considering volunteering, everyone is welcome to come along, ask questions, meet current members, and enjoy a cup of tea.
