Game on for mental health as Inishowen clubs join forces

Inishowen Rugby Club, Moville Celtic and Malin GAA will compete in a unique TriSport Tournament to raise awareness of men's mental health and support Insight Inishowen.
Three of Inishowen’s best-known sporting clubs are coming together in a unique show of solidarity as part of Men’s Mental Health Week.
Inishowen Rugby Club, Moville Celtic FC, and Malin GAA will compete in the first-ever Inishowen TriSport Tournament on Friday, June 19, at 6.30pm at the home of Inishowen Rugby on the Moss Road in Carndonagh.
The special event has been organised to raise awareness around men’s mental health while also supporting the vital work of Insight Inishowen, a voluntary-run charity providing counselling and wellbeing services across the peninsula.
Promoting the tournament, Inishowen Rugby Club said the evening is about more than just sport.
“Come down to Moss Road on Friday, 19th June at 6.30pm to cheer us all on, have a laugh and help raise vital funds for Insight Inishowen. Three sports, one community, stronger together.”
The tournament will see the clubs take part across football, rugby, and GAA. Organisers hope the event will encourage more open conversations around mental health while bringing people together in a positive and inclusive environment.
Insight Inishowen expressed gratitude to the three clubs for supporting their counselling service, which provides free and donation-based therapy for people throughout the area.
The charity said every contribution raised from the event will go directly towards helping those experiencing difficulties and ensuring support remains available locally.
“As a voluntary-run charity, every penny raised will go directly to providing support services for those who are finding things difficult,” a spokesperson for the organisation said.
Men’s Mental Health Week takes place this year from Monday, June 15th, to Sunday, June 21st. The week-long campaign aims to raise awareness of the challenges many men face, encourage early detection, and break the stigma around seeking help for mental and physical well-being.
Admission to the event is €5 for adults, €2 for teenagers, while children under 12 can attend for free. All proceeds from the tournament will go to Insight Inishowen.
