Abbott Employees raise €63,500 for Bluestack Special Needs Foundation

Abbott employees in Donegal Town have raised €63,500 for Bluestack Special Needs Foundation, an organisation that supports children with additional needs and their families.

The Foundation provides a range of services including an after-school club, a training and progression programme, and counselling support.

Since 2023, employees at Abbott’s Donegal site have taken part in numerous fundraising activities, including cake sales, raffles, and an indoor cycle challenge. Several employees also volunteered their time to refresh the Foundation’s indoor space through painting and improvements, creating a more welcoming environment for service users and staff at the centre in Donegal Town.

Sean O’Hara, Site Director Abbott in Donegal, said: “We are proud to support our neighbours here in Donegal. The Bluestack Special Needs Foundation plays a vital role in helping children and their families across the county, creating inclusive spaces for their growth and development. At Abbott, we are committed to helping people live their best lives, and we are delighted to support the Foundation in advancing this mission.”

Laura Cassidy, CEO of the Bluestack Special Needs Foundation, said: “Being chosen as one of Abbott’s charity partners for the past two years has been an honour. Without this partnership, having standalone premises for our adult Training and Progression Programme would still be a distant dream rather than something we are now set to achieve in 2026.

“We deeply value the volunteerism, dedication, and kindness shown by Abbott’s employees. The funds raised will significantly transform our services, enabling us to expand our capacity across our adult and children’s programmes. This is life-changing for our members. We are sincerely grateful for everything this partnership has made possible.”

The Bluestack Special Needs Foundation was selected as Abbott ‘Charity of Choice’ in Donegal under Croí an Óir, the company’s national volunteering and giving programme. Since its launch in 2007, Croí an Óir has raised more than €3 million for over 900 charities nationwide.
