Gardaí in Letterkenny are seeking information from the general public that may assist them in their investigation into prostitution and brothel-keeping in the Letterkenny area.

Gardaí confirmed this week that their investigation on prostitution and brothel-keeping in the Letterkenny area is ongoing.

Detective Inspector Pat O’Donnell was speaking following the latest raid on a brothel in Letterkenny on Monday, as part of a targeted operation on the sex trade here.

In the wake of three foreign national women being arrested this week and subsequently charged with knowingly allowing a premises to be used as a brothel, Inspector Pat O’Donnell said that their investigations were ongoing.

The Inspector said that there are a number of premises in the town being used for brothel-keeping and stressed that he was also deeply concerned that many of the women involved were being trafficked and held against their will.

“We carried out a targeted raid on Monday evening and this is the second such raid we have carried out recently,” he said.

“If anybody notices anything unusual in their area or in their apparment block we would appeal to them to scontact us,” Detective Inspector O’Donnell said.
