Acclaimed Letterkenny group reforming for special Christmas show
They packed in audiences in venues the length and breadth of Ireland and Britain and further beyond in their heyday and tomorrow night they'll do so again in their home town of Letterkenny.
The three surviving members of internationally acclaimed group The Pattersons are getting together again for a one-off special guest appearance as part of a traditional Christmas show in the An Grianan Theatre.
Organised by the Letterkenny Musical Society, the show will also offer a sampler from the organisation's forthcoming production of ‘Annie' as well as a specially adapted comedy sketch and a few other surprises along the way.
Many of the current generation will not have heard The Pattersons but they'll get the opportunity to see what persuaded Morcambe & Wise to give them a residency on their hugely popular B.B.C. show and why they also earned stints on the likes of the Val Doonican show.
"Billy Patterson was speaking at one of the rehearsal nights for Annie and said the group were reforming. Ask your parents about them, he said, but I told them a lot of them might need to ask their grandparents," laughed Danny McGlinchey who was instrumental in helping to put The Pattersons on the road to national and international acclaim.
Christine, Billy and Ronnie will echo some of their best known songs from a distinguished past. Last year, the fourth member of the original quartet, Dorothy, sadly passed away.
Meanwhile, the young cast who make up the Orphans in the musical ‘Annie' will be performing on the night. Proceeds from the show, which gets underway at 8.p.m., will go towards St. Bernadette's School."There'll be a real Christmas party atmosphere," promised Danny.
