Radio series on impact of trauma
Inishowen Community Radio is to air a new series of programmes on trauma and its impact.
On Monday next, December 20, at 9.40am the first of four programmes from the acclaimed book and Audio CD: The Sky Before The Storm will air on ICRfm. The series will run each weekday morning at that time until Thursday, December 23 as part of ‘Voices of Inishowen'. The programmes can be heard on 105 or 107.6fm or online at www.icrfm.ie .
The information has been made accessible to ICR by The Wider Circle trauma support group.
The series producer Cathal Monaghan has worked in the community sector for many years and is trained in conflict resolution, mediation, anger management and trauma and is also a qualified psychotherapist. He says many people will benefit from listening to these programmes and they will be of great value in understanding the various ways in which traumatic experiences can affect a person, their family and friends.
The Sky Before The Storm provides an awareness of the effects of trauma and advice on how to cope with it. The Sky Before The Storm also provides information on how to work with trauma survivors to reduce symptoms and increase confidence and esteem and to prepare them in learning new coping skills.
