The annual carol services will take place on December 17th at 7pm in Kilteevogue and on December 19th at 9am in Meenglass. The traditional carol service in Stranorlar will be held at 12 noon on 19th December.
A Penitential Service will be held in the church on Monday 20th at 7.30pm.
Interdenominational carol service
The annual interdenominational carol service will take place in the Church of Mary Immaculate, Stranorlar on 19th December at 7pm
Golf club fundraiser
The Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf Club will hold a golf competition and table quiz on Monday 27th December in aid of the Donegal Hospice. Your support would be much appreciated.
Concern Carol Singing
The annual Concern Carol Singing is taking place in McElhinney's on Saturday, 18th December, commencing at 12 noon. The group are totally dependent on the goodwill of musicians and singers so if you have any free time on the day please come along and join in. Your contribution will be very much appreciated.
A musical evening with carol singing will be hosted by Derry/Donegal Presbytery Choir. The event will be held in the Donegal Town Presbyterian Church on Friday, 17th December at 8pm. A coach travelling from Letterkenny via Raphoe, Convoy, Donoughmore and Stranorlar will be available. Booking for the coach is essential. To book call Muriel Perry on 086 3128874. Proceeds are in aid of the Donegal Branch of Multiple Sclerosis.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, the Stranorlar Reformed Presbyterian Church had to postpone their book sale. The book sale will now take place in their church building (Main Street) on Saturday, 18th December from 1pm to 8pm. A wide variety of books covering many different topics will be available and suitable for children and people of all ages. From 3pm there will be a story time where some books from the stall will be read to children of preschool and national school age. So drop in for a browse and have a cup of tea. Everyone will be most welcome and admission is free.
The Cunamh Organisation that raises funds for local emergencies in the Twin Town areas is holding their Annual Church Gate Collection on Saturday, 18th and Sunday, 19th December at St. Mary's Church, Stranorlar. Your support would be very much appreciated.
Due to refurbishment work the Garda Barracks has been moved from Main Street, Ballybofey to Unit 4, Quinn Place, Ballybofey. (Opposite the car park behind Heeney's). Phone numbers will remain unchanged.
The Meenreagh Social Centre Christmas dance will be held on Saturday, 18th December. Dancing will be from 10.30pm to 1am. Music is by Country Legends. Refreshments will be served and everyone welcome
The children's Christmas disco is on Sunday, 19th December. Music will be from 5pm to 7pm. Santa will be there to see all the children and refreshments will be served. Everyone welcome
The Christmas Dance which was unfortunately cancelled due to adverse weather conditions has been rescheduled as a pre-St. Patricks Day celebration to be held on Tuesday, March 8th.
The Wednesday Club itself will now reopen on Wednesday 12th January. The volunteers would like to wish all the older people a Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year.
The House of Books, Ballybofey will hold a bookfair on the first Saturday of each month. Proceeds are in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association. A large selection of books are available. Everyone welcome.
The St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal collection for people in need in the area will take place each Sunday. Your support would be greatly appreciated. A box is available in the Parish Centre for requests from people in need. Insert your name, address and phone number in the box.
Ballybofey & Stranorlar Women's Group
The group would like to apologise for the night of drama and entertainment planned for 8th December that had to be postponed owing to the bad weather. It will now take place on Thursday, 16th December in the Balor Theatre at 8.30pm. Admission is 10 euro for adults and children are 3 euro. Proceeds will go to the Irish Heart Foundation. Your support would be much appreciated.
Planet Youth will run a drop-in on Saturday afternoons. The drop-in will run from 2 until 5pm and will be ongoing. Cost is €2 entry. Planet Youth would ask all local young people to support this worthwhile service.

Forward all items for the Twin Towns Notes to firstname.lastname@example.org before 5.30pm each Friday or items may also be dropped into Blees Caf, Navenny Lane, Ballybofey before 9.30pm on Friday night for the following week's issue. All messages sent into Blee's Cafe must have a contact name and number on them.
Youth Prayer Meeting
A youth Prayer meeting is held in St. Mary's Parish Centre, Stranorlar, every Tuesday evening, from 8pm to 9.30pm. Come along, say a few prayers, sing some songs and meet with other young people.
