Iarla in lead role of 'Richard III'
Letterkenny actor, Iarla McGowan, will make a homecoming appearance when he stars in the lead role of Shakespeare's "Richard III" at An Grianan Thetare on February 2nd.
His performance is part of two separate prodcutions focusing on the common theme - the farce of power.
London based theatre company Love&Madness present these two dramas, classic Shakespearean history Richard III and Dario Fo's 20th century masterpiece Accidental Death of an Anarchist play on consecutive nights at An Griann Theatre on Wednesday 2nd and Thursday, February 3rd.
Both plays are described as are pieces that manage to entertain while still striking a subversive and uncomfortable chord today.
The final chapter of the War of the Roses, Richard III dramatizes the life of one of the most diabolical and manipulative, yet charming and witty villains in Shakespeare's canon.
Directed by Ben Kidd with a cast of eight, this production has had great reviews with the British Theatre Guide calling it "a brave, new, and welcome addition to the cycle of Richard III productions".
On Thursday night comes Dario Fo's sharp and hilarious satire on corruption, Accidental Death of an Anarchist.
